THE 2017 CARRY AN ORGAN DONOR CARD – PUNCHESTOWN CHARITY RACE – CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

The 28th running of The Punchestown Kidney Research Fund Charity Race will be held on Saturday 29th April 2017. This is traditionally the last race on the last day of the Punchestown Festival – which as you know is the “Irish Cheltenham”.

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY - It is essential to read the following:

All riders have 3 major tasks to look after themselves in order to participate: 

  1. In order to be eligible as a Jockey you must hold a valid Turf Club A1 Amateur Licence or pass a One Day Charity Race Competency Assessment at R.A.C.E. in order to participate. You can apply for a One Day Assessment at R.A.C.E. by completing the attached form and return it to James Nolan with a cheque for €120 made payable to R.A.C.E.  This covers the fee for the course at R.A.C.E. only.
    You must arrange and pay to have a medical with a Turf Club approved doctor.

     

  2. All riders must raise a minimum of €1, 250 to compete in this race.
    All monies must be PAID by Friday 21st April 2017 in order to ride in the race.
    Failure to pay the €1, 250 entry fee by Friday 21st April 2017 will automatically eliminate a Jockey from participation in the Race.

  3. All riders are responsible for organising their own horse, which has to comply with all entry requirements.  Riders must give the name(s) of their horse(s) for entry to James Nolan before 12 noon on Friday 21st April 2017
    Declarations must be made before 8 a.m. on Friday 28th April 2017.
    There is no charge for entering or declaring a horse for the Charity Race.
    PROVISIONAL – “Conditions” for the 2017 Punchestown Charity Race

This Charity Race will adhere to the Rules of Racing.

A Private Sweepstakes Charity Race with an entry fee of €1,250 per Jockey.
The €1,250 is payable by each rider no later than Friday 22nd April 2017.
All proceeds to the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund Ltd.

HORSES

  • (For 4 year old and upwards)
  • Horses must have run at least three times under the Rules of Racing or I.N.H.S. Rules
  • ONE OF THESE RUNS MUST HAVE BEEN SINCE 1st March, 2016
  • Point-to -Point Steeplechases excluded and Horses must be returned in training to be eligible.
  • Distance: - About 1 Mile and 7 Furlongs
  • Weights: _____________12st
  • Mares Allowance: _____________5lbs
  • Penalties to count from 1st January, 2016:
  • Winner of a *race to carry 3lb extra for each race won - Maximum Penalty 9lbs
    * Including any race under any Rules of Racing or Steeplechasing


Jockeys:

  • To qualify as a Jockey to participate in this Race you must have a minimum of an A1 Amateur Jockey’s Licence or you must pass a Charity Race One Day Competency Assessment at R.A.C.E. and pass a Medical (with a Turf Club listed doctor.)
  • Jockeys cannot have ridden more than 3 winners on the racecourse to be eligible.
  • It is strictly subject to attaining the above qualification that a Rider’s entry will be accepted.
  • N.B. The mandatory percentage deductions shall not apply to this race.
  • Horses that run in Private Sweepstakes do not lose their eligibility to run in Point-to-Point Races.
  • The winning Owner, Trainer & Jockey will receive a trophy.
  • Each rider will receive a memento of no intrinsic value.
  • The groom in charge of the winning horse will receive €100
  • The groom in charge of the best turned out horse will receive €100



NOT MORE THAN 25 RUNNERS WILL BE PERMITTED TO RUN IN THIS RACE.

Horses that require to be led to the start will NOT be permitted to take part.

Blinkers, Visors, Hoods, Pacifiers, Eye Shields or Sheepskin Cheek straps are NOT permitted.

 

In the event of this race being over subscribed the organising committee reserves the right to select the 25 runners and 3 reserves for this race and to accept or reject any Jockey/Horse as they deem fit.

 

ENTRIES FOR HORSES THAT ARE NOT RETURNED IN TRAINING AT TIME OF ENTRY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

If the Jockey has not paid the €1,250 entry fee by Friday 21ST April 2017
they will not be eligible to participate in the Race.
