Punchestown Charity Race 2023 – Provisional Conditions of Entry

 

The 32nd Running of the Punchestown Charity Race on Saturday 29th April 2023.

This Charity Race will adhere to the Rules of Racing.

A Private Sweepstakes Charity Race with an entry fee of €1,500 per rider.

The €1,500 is payable by each rider no later than Friday 21st April 2023.

All proceeds to the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund Ltd.

 

HORSES

      • For 4 year olds and upwards.
      • Horses must have run at least three times under the Rules of Racing or I.N.H.S. Rules.
      • ONE OF THESE RUNS MUST HAVE BEEN SINCE 1st March, 2022
      • Point-to -Point Steeplechases excluded and Horses must be returned in training to be eligible.
      • Distance: - About 1 Mile and 7 Furlongs
      • Weights: _____________12st
      • Mares Allowance: _____________5lbs
      • Penalties to count from 1st January, 2022:
      • Winner of a *race to carry 3lb extra for each race won - Maximum Penalty 9lbs
        * Including any race under any any National Hunt Rules or Rules of Racing.
      • Horses that require to be led to the start will NOT be permitted to take part.
      • Blinkers, Visor, Hood, Eyeshield, Eyecover, Sheepskin Cheek Pieces or any similar device are NOT permitted.
      • N.B. The mandatory percentage deductions shall not apply to this race.
      • A horse which has won a Private Sweepstakes shall not on that account incur a penalty or be debarred from claiming any allowance or from taking part in any race.
      • Horses that run in this race do not lose their eligibility to run in Point to Point Steeplechases.


Riders:

      • To qualify as a rider to participate in this race you must have a minimum of an A1 Amateur Jockey’s Licence or you must pass a Charity Race Competency Assessment at R.A.C.E.
      • The rider must also pass a Medical with either a Turf Club Listed Doctor or a GP. The doctor signing off on any participant must use the IHRB medical form as issued to all applicants. A copy of the signed Medical Certificate must be forwarded to James Nolan.
      • Riders shall not have ridden more than 1 winner on the racecourse to be eligible.
      • It is strictly subject to attaining the above qualification that a Rider’s entry will be accepted.
        • The winning Owner, Trainer & Rider will receive a trophy.
        • Each rider will receive a memento of no intrinsic value.
        • The groom in charge of the winning horse will receive €100
        • The groom in charge of the best turned out horse will receive €100



NOT MORE THAN 25 RUNNERS WILL BE PERMITTED TO RUN IN THIS RACE.

In the event of this race being over subscribed the organising committee reserves the right to select the 25 runners and 3 reserves for this race and to accept or reject any Rider/Horse.

ENTRIES FOR HORSES THAT ARE NOT RETURNED IN TRAINING AT TIME OF CLOSE ENTRY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

If the Jockey has not paid the €1,500 entry fee by Friday 21st April 2022 they will not be eligible to participate in the Race.

Please note that the Organising Committee reserve the right to accept or reject any application.
